General Description

The Outreach and Recruitment Team focuses on creating pathways to success for students applying to college. Through targeted outreach, school and community partnerships, and engaging experiences, our team's message is that college is possible for all. Our recruitment and outreach work includes supporting audiences in schools and community organizations, developing programming for college transition and career exploration, and hosting experiences across the College to support future Valencia students and their parents.

We are seeking Campus Outreach Assistants to be part of our Outreach and Recruitment Team. Student leaders will assist with providing college-wide tours to prospective students and family members and with all aspects of our events.

Job Responsibilities

- Provide weekly and/or monthly tours for prospective students and families, schools, and community organizations.
- Be a positive spokesperson for the department and Valencia College.
- Prepare resources and materials for group visits, information sessions, off-campus experiences, and other events.
- Assist with maintaining inventory and keeping the storage area organized and clean.
- Assist Outreach Coordinators with daily tasks in preparation for events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Details

- 14-20 hours per week
- $15 per hour
- Openings available at East, West, and Osceola campuses

- Strong verbal communication skills
- Takes initiative and can be a self-starter
- Eager to improve leadership and teamwork skills
- Passion for and commitment to the mission of the department and Valencia College
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people
- Familiarity with one of the main campuses: East, West, or Osceola

Requirements

- Must be a degree- or certificate-seeking student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during Fall and Spring Terms and at least 3 credit hours during Summer Term.
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Must be able to work during Fall, Spring, and Summer.
- Bilingual ability in Spanish, Portuguese, or Creole is preferred.
- Previous customer service experience is preferred.
- Previous clerical experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Ability to follow instructions from a supervisor and other faculty.
- Ability to work a variety of hours, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to travel locally and efficiently between campus and off-campus locations.
- Skill in communicating effectively interpersonally, orally, and in writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to access, enter, and retrieve information using a computer.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.
